PJ O’Brien’s has spread the news about Ireland to several places in Australia from Adelaide in the South to Port Douglas on the Queensland Coast. In Sydney it is located in the Grand Hotel complex were visitors are welcomed by an open fire and traditional Irish music leaving the sounds of the city behind. The atmosphere builds as the sun sets with Guinness and Magners Cider two of the pubs favourites. There is plenty of choice however including fine Australian wines and the usual beers and spirits.
The kitchen serves up everything from traditional Irish fayre to pizzas and typical pub grub. Soda bread, Guinness and beef pie, Irish Stew and Pork Sausages all provide a taste of Ireland. The seafood is excellent and varied; salmon, mussels, calamari and the catch of the day cooked in Kilkenny’s beer batter. There is even a cake with Guinness icing for dessert. The wine list is extensive with many of Australia’s wines featured.
PJ’s kitchen opens for lunchtime and is popular for both lunch and dinner for local workers as well as those on a family holiday. There is also a function facility that can be booked with catering provided to order. To avoid disappointment diners should consider booking a table though PJs has plenty of space for those just wanting a drink.
Anyone enjoying live music should check on the traditional Sunday sessions of Irish music; you are welcome to join in. On Tuesdays there is a trivia quiz and more live music on Thursdays and Fridays. PJ O’Brien’s can keep you entertained right throughout the week.
